Coveñas is a beautiful tropical paradise on the
Atlantic Coast, erected as a municipality of Sucre Department, in Colombia in
2002. Its beaches in the Gulf Morrosquillo are part of the tourist destination
of those who want to enjoy the blue Caribbean.
This magnificent coastal town is not only
famous in the country for its beautiful beaches, it is also center of oil
export port of Ecopetrol, which operates in its territory since 1974. Also on
that date a branch of the National Army of Colombia is established, (which
according to its objectives has received different names Naval Base Covenas
Battalion Marine Corps Base Marine Corps Training and Education School of
Marine).
